Ukulele Gift Box

Happy Birthday, Kyle!

Kyle's Birthday was this past week and as he gets older (28)
I try to get more creative for his homemade Birthday gifts.
Well . . . I think I topped last year's gift!
He loves his Ukulele, and over the years he has been
trying to learn different songs to play on it, so I decided
to make him a Paper Ukulele. Using my Cricut Explore Air
and an SVGCuts file, I was able make him one to display
since he keeps his real one in a case.

I printed the wood looking paper out and after cutting it
I applied Super Gloss Mod Podge over the paper.
After it dried, I started assembling the box card.
I used silver 3D paint for the frets, and thin gage wire for the strings.
I wanted to add a tropical look to it, so I created the flowers
using the Heartfelt Creations Botanical Rose Stamp and Die Set.
After the flowers were cut out, I used Distress Ink to color the flowers
and added Microbeads for the center.
The body of the Ukulele is a box, so I put some candy inside of it.
I did not take a picture of the back, but I had my Cricut write out
part of the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

I also made him another Card using a Hero Arts
Koi Fish Die. After cutting the Koi out, I colored him
with Distress ink and lifted up the scales. I decided to make this
an interactive card. After cuting out a couple of circles and
attaching him to a foam dot. he can now swim around
in a circle. If you look close enough you can even see
tiny bubbles in his wake as he "Just Keeps Swimming"!

  1. Both the Ukulele and the Card look really nice! Your photos nicely depict the attention to detail!
